you know.. a page for the recent topics and top 10 posters
also, a statistic on friendstertalk..
you are visitor number blah blah for this day.
And all stuff the admin can think of.

And lastly, I haven't seen a PunBB forum having a portal.

Only the admin and moderators can view the member list.Anyway, I prefer the forum index as the portal of this forum. Haha.. You can have the large portal for the forum that depicts all the forum sections.
I guess admin already made a portal. And it's cool
