CHAPTER 10: The so-called date

And there. My relatives went home na, and only my parents, Gell, and Carl was left with me. I was kinda tired ‘coz I kept on talking with the invited persons. What a day indeed.

“Your ex is nice, isn’t he? He even liked the idea of this party for you..” Carl told me.
Before answering, I gave him a strange look first. I guess you already know why.
“Are you sure Carl?” I answered.
“Yeah, he told me that this idea was good. And for sure, I got it from a nice source.”
“Whatever, I think you really like to destroy my day..?”
“But why? I’m just telling the truth..”
“You’re not.” I gave him a strong look.
“How can you say that?”
“I’ve heard you. I’ve heard the two of you talking awhile ago. I’ve heard few of your conversations.”
“Huh?”
“Can’t believe? I really did. He approached you, and at first, he told you that it was nice. But he added that you just got this idea from those trashes. Now tell me, am I wrong?”
“But, I guess he’s just kidding.”
“He’s not. I know that you know he’s not.”

Our conversation was cut-off because my parents called me. We need to go home, finally. And, we’re gonna ride on Carl’s car.

The argument between me and Carl continued. He really doesn’t want to tell me the truth. I know he’s playing safe. I know he just don’t wanna hurt me. But what’s the point of continuously lying if he knew that I really know the truth? Errr.

“Hey you, could you stop fighting about that stupid topic?” my mom speak softly.
“Yeah, we keep on hearing the same words from the two of you.” Gell added.

“Fine.” We both answered at the same time.

Silence filled the car until we reached home. Gell’s gonna sleep in our house tonight, as she has promised. And Carl? Never mind.

Weeks have passed. We’re actually okay now, I mean, Carl and I. I made him tell the truth e.

It was a Sunday morning when we went together for a date? I don’t know how to call it. Anyway, we went to a romantic restaurant, his treat. And surprisingly, we’ve seen Migs eating there too. But with?

“Hey Migs! You’re here too..So…” he didn’t let me finish talking, he answered immediately.
“Oh yeah, Trissy. H-here’s Carey, my my bestfriend. Carey, Trissy, my ex. ”

What a nice introduction Migs. A round of applause for you.

“Hi there Carey?” I faced the girl, and went to where Carl’s sitting.

Alright. Be calm Triss. Be calm. She’s only a bestfriend.

“Hey, what’s up? Who’s that girl with him?” Carl asked.

I was just looking at one direction, absent minded.

“Hey Triss!” Carl shouted but not too loud.   
“Oh, oh, sorry Carl. C’mon, let’s eat now.”
“But I’m asking you, who’s that girl with Migs?”
“Ah. Th-that girl. Carey. H-his bestfirend, I guess.”

We ate, we talked, and then left the restaurant. My cellphone’s vibrating, actually, kanina pa toh. Hindi ko lang pinapansin. I just want to spend this moment with Carl.

I checked my phone, messages and missed calls from Migs. Apologizing, explaining, and other things similar to that. He’s being defensive of what I’ve seen earlier.

To clear things up, he’s courting me; and seeing him with other girls isn’t that good. And kung isusumbat naman niya sakin na kasama ko naman si Carl, I just want it to be clear too that he’s my best friend, my very special friend.

I turned off my phone for me not to be destructed. I focused more sa taong kasama ko.

“O, bakit mo pinatay phone mo?” Carl asked while driving.
“Eh kasi, may tumatawag sakin, nakakainis.”
“Who?”
“Guess who.”
“Ahhh. Is it Migs? Trying to express his regrets and apologies for what we have seen earlier? ”
“Oo.”
“Eh bakit hindi mo siya kausapin?”
“Mas gusto ko kasing kasama ka ngayon.”

He’s speechless of what I’ve said. Nanibago din siguro siya at the same time kasi ngayon ko lang siya sinabihan ng ganyan.
